Thailand – Patong, Khao Lak, Phuket & Bangkok

Our journey started flying with Eva airways from London – Phuket via Bangkok. I would say the airline was okay, Pros – very good leg room, Cons – food & service.
Arriving into Phuket for our first 2 nights we stayed in the Centara Grand Phuket. Lovely rooms, great pool area and fantastic food.
The Centara grand is only 20 mins in a taxi to Patong where you have a buzzing nightlife on an evening time and in the day people relaxing on Patong beach.
Patong is very commercialised and if you are looking for a quiet holiday I would suggest not staying in Patong itself and considering somewhere like the Centara Grande to spend your days relaxing on Karon beach.
For the 2nd part of our trip we went north of Phuket to Khao Lak. We visited the Sarojin hotel on route and this hotel was stunning. For honeymoon couples this would be a perfect hotel. We also had a cooking class by the beach and the food was some of the best I have experienced in the world. I love Thai food and experiencing the some of the cuisine in Thailand made me love it even more.
That evening we checked into our hotel which was the Sands Khao Lak by Katathani. This hotel is a very modern new property with lots of space and great facilities. It is great for families, couples or groups of people. On the first evening we went out to explore the area. It was very quiet but I think this was generally the time of year. We went to a local bar called Mars-Bar & cafe. The guy that owned it was from the UK, the atmosphere was great, lots of laughs and great service. The standard rooms in the hotel are great, however if you want something a little more plush then its worth looking at the seaside junior suites or the pool access junior suite.

Moving on to our next hotel (which by far is my ultimate favourite) we went to the Anantara Phuket Villas. At this hotel every room type is a private pool villa. I was lucky enough to have my own private pool villa. The service was impeccable, the dining options were excellent and the setting and villas were fantastic. I would definitely recommend doing the virtual tour of the villas on http://phuket.anantara.com. They also have 2 bedroom family villas as well so great to for a family holiday.

We finished our trip with 2 nights in Bangkok which is a bustling city with so much going on. Lot’s of street markets, shopping and dining at the top of luxury hotels. I would probably only recommend a couple of nights in Bangkok to start or finish your holiday to experience the city.
Thailand to me was a gorgeous destination with some of the most open minded, easy going people in the world. The food, the accommodation and the way of life will make me want to go back time and time again. Plus you have some of the most stunning beaches in the world.
